Downtown & the Saturday Market

Eugene’s downtown is flat, bikeable and full of makers. Every Saturday from April the Park Blocks fill with hand-made goods and food booths at the Saturday Market, the oldest weekly open-air crafts market in the United States.

Discover Downtown & the Saturday Market

The Eugene Saturday Market opened on May 9, 1970 with 29 vendors, each paying a dollar. Artist Lotte Streisinger founded it, and it has met at the two-block park at Oak Street and 8th Avenue since 1983. (Wikipedia)

It runs on Saturdays from early April until mid-November, 10 am to 5 pm, and every vendor must make or grow what they sell. On the weekend before Thanksgiving it moves indoors to the Lane County Fairgrounds as the Holiday Market. (Wikipedia)

Next door, the Lane County Farmers Market grew from a task force the county set up in 1978 and has been an independent organisation since 1989. (Wikipedia)
